Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, have become increasingly popular for recreational and commercial use. If you're a drone owner or operator, it's important to be aware of the regulations set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure safe and legal operation of your UAV.
All UAVs that weigh between 0.55 pounds and 55 pounds must be registered with the FAA. Registration can be done online, and the unique registration number obtained must be visibly displayed on the drone.
It's crucial to understand airspace restrictions when flying drones. UAVs should not be flown near airports, military bases, or other restricted airspace. Additionally, drones should not exceed an altitude of 400 feet above ground level.
When operating a drone, keep in mind the following rules: - Fly the drone within visual line of sight - Do not fly over people or moving vehicles - Avoid flying in adverse weather conditions - Do not interfere with manned aircraft
If you intend to use your drone for commercial purposes, additional rules apply. You must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA by passing an aeronautical knowledge test.
